Mountains, forest, waterfalls, grassland and African bush dominate the landscape around Graskop. That's why the area is ideal for hiking and mountain biking. Valley View Hostel rents out mountain bikes and has a lot of information about the trails in the area. The staff has set out several trails so they know the area. Valley View is the only backpackers in the area that has permission to write out permits to go into the forest.

Mountain biking
To discover the area around Graskop we rent out mountain bikes for a whole or half a day. This includes a helmet, lock, pump, repair set and a map for the route. Valley View has set out trails to the Forest Falls, God's Window and to the Stanley Bushkop. Of course you can also find your own way. Before you go on your adventure, the staff will give you some basic instructions on how to use the mountain bikes. There is also a possibility to go with a guide.

Hiking
Other than mountain biking, you can also hike through the area. In and around Graskop are several hiking trails; Loerie trail, secretary bird walk, Forest Falls walk, Fanie Botha trail, Prospector's trail, Belvedere Walk and the Jock of the Bushveld trail. You can even hike through the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. ValleyView has a lot of information and maps about the hiking trails in the area.

Extreme adventures in Sabie (30 km from Graskop)
Sabie is the place to be if you want to do some extreme adventures. The rough landscape with its many mountains, gorges and waterfalls is ideal for abseiling, rafting, climbing and quad bikes.

Horse back riding
Go into the forest and over the grass land on the back of a horse. There are plenty of possibilities in this beautiful area. You will meet the wild horses, the posterity of the horses that worked during the gold rush in and around the mines.

Climbing and abseiling
This rough area has plenty of walls to climb and waterfalls where you can abseil. The area is not that developed for this sport but there is more and more interest. Just ask us and we will give you the latest information.
